Codenamed Copper Dune, the US is supporting the Yemen government in its wayfarers versus Islamic insurgents wideness the country. The airstrikes took place in Yemen’s Shabwah, Hadramawt and Bayda governorates, officials said, noting that a recent United Nations report assessed that AQAP leaders recognize Yemen as a hub for external operations. AQAP a Significant Threat to Regional Security “AQAP has taken wholesomeness of the conflicts in Yemen to plot, uncontrived and encourage terror attacks abroad,” said Army Lt. Col. Earl Brown, a Centcom spokesman. “We will not relent on our pursuit of AQAP terrorists as they remain a significant threat to regional security and stability and the safety of Americans at home and abroad.” U.S. forces conducted 17 airstrikes in four separate governorates versus AQAP through February to April this year. These included six air strikes versus AQAP terrorists in February, seven air strikes versus AQAP terrorists in March and four airstrikes versus AQAP terrorists in April. The April airstrikes included an AQAP training zany in western Hadramawt governorate April 11 and an AQAP checkpoint for asserting regional tenancy and raising illegal revenue in al Bayda governorate April 23. Other air strikes took place in al Bayda, Hadramawt, Zamakh and Shabwah governorates. U.S. Central Command is enlightened of reports of so-called starchy casualties pursuit the March 29 air strike versus AQAP in al Bayda governorate. A points towage is stuff conducted. Intelligence and defense communities have assessed AQAP as one of the terrorist groups most single-minded to and capable of conducting attacks in the United States. AQAP has taken wholesomeness of ungoverned spaces in Yemen to plot, uncontrived and inspire terror attacks versus the United States, its citizens and its allies virtually the world. Khalid Batarfi and Hamza bin Laden Rousing HatredVersusUS In early 2018, senior AQAP icon Khalid Batarfi tabbed on the group’s supporters to “rise and attack” Americans “everywhere.” Last month, Osama Bin Laden’s son Hamza, an influential al-Qaeda figure, tabbed on aspiring terrorists to join and support AQAP’s terrorist efforts in Yemen. The starchy war in Yemen has killed an unscientific 10,000 people in the two years to 2017, leaving a devastated country.Surpassingthe starchy war, Yemen imported virtually 90% of its food. Fighting brought the supplies supply uniting to a standstill, leaving increasingly than half of the country’s 28 million people in danger of starvation. The United States is single-minded to finding and striking AQAP’s terrorist network in Yemen. “In coordination with the government of Yemen, U.S. forces are conducting a series of counter-terrorism operations versus AQAP and ISIS-Yemen,” said US Centcom spokesman Lt. Col. Earl Brown. “We will protract to disrupt and dethrone the worthiness of AQAP to plan attacks, confronting threats surpassing they reach our borders.” Sources: DoD; DVIDS Image: airstrike in Sana’a 2015 (CC, 2015).   Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Related Al-Qaeda Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula Bayda Earl Brown Hadramawt Hamza bin Laden ISIS-Yemen Islamic Insurgency Khaild Batarfi Operation Copper Dune Shabwah US Central Command Yemen Zamakh Post navigation « RAF Flying Fewer SortiesVersusISISMore Welsh Guards Arrive in Afghanistan » Trending on Warfare.Today Search for: Recent Posts Confirmed: Some British Soldiers Will Stay in Germany RAF Scrambles as Russian Bombers Approach UK Defence Vehicle Dynamics (DVD2018) British Army to Buy 500 Boxers Afghan Special Forces Capture ISIS-K Fighters Recommended WebsitesRoyal Navy British Army Royal Air Force Ministry of Defence Warfare.Today by SubjectWarfare.Today by Subject Select Category Academic Conference Afghanistan Afghanistan Africa Air Anglo-Zulu War Atlantic Resolve Australia Battlespace Bosnia and Herzegovina British Army Call for Papers Canada Central Asia China Cobra Gold Communications Cyber Czech Republic Defence Events Defence Exhibition Defence Industry News Desert Storm DoD Dynamic Front Eastern Europe Egypt Electronic Warfare Enhanced Forward Presence Estonia Europe Exercises Far East First World War Flintlock Foal Eagle France Freedom’s Sentinel Germany Historical Conflicts HM Armed Forces India India Information Warfare Inherent Resolve Intelligence Services Iran Iraq Israel Ivory Coast Japan Jordan Land Latvia Lithuania Malaysia Mali Medical Middle East Military Operations MOD Munich Security Conference NATO News Nigeria North Korea Northern Ireland Operation BILOXI Operation CABRIT Operation RUMAN Operation Shader Operation Sophia Operation TORAL Operation TRENTON Poland RAF RAF+ Resolute Support Reviews Romania Romania Royal Marines Royal Navy Russia Saudi Arabia Scotland Sea Second World War SitReps Sociological Warfare Somalia South Korea South Sudan Sweden Syria Syria Technology Terrorism Ukraine Uncategorized United Kingdom US Air Force US Army US Marine Corps US Marines US Military US National Guard US Navy War Studies Weapons Yemen Zapad Archives October 2018 September 2018 August 2018 July 2018 June 2018 May 2018 April 2018 March 2018 February 2018 January 2018 December 2017 November 2017 October 2017 September 2017 August 2017 July 2017 June 2017 May 2017 April 2017 March 2017 February 2017 January 2017 December 2016 Warfare.Today on TwitterMy TweetsSubscribe by RSSRSS - PostsRSS - Comments Subscribe to Warfare.Today Get all the news in your inbox as it happens for free.
